Do I need an account to use Ice Cream Fund?
No sign-up. Funds live on your device from the moment you create them. Turning on sharing for a fund uses your existing Apple ID through iCloud — there's no separate Ice Cream Fund registration, ever.
How does the allowance schedule work?
Set a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule once and it runs itself from the start date you choose. An optional reminder tells you when an allowance is added, and shared funds get the same reminder.
Can two parents manage the same fund?
Yes — share a fund and the other parent can view the balance, add money, and record withdrawals right alongside you, synced privately through iCloud.
What's the difference between Edit and View Only sharing?
Edit lets the person you invite add money, take money out, and edit the fund's details, such as its name, color and schedule. Only you can delete the fund or manage who it is shared with. View Only lets them see the balance and activity but not make changes — good for a grandparent who wants to watch a fund grow without being able to edit it. You choose the level when you invite someone, and can change it anytime.
What happens if I stop sharing a fund?
The person's access is revoked immediately. Their device may take a moment to reflect the change while it receives Apple's push notification. Your data and history stay exactly as they were.
Is my family's data private?
Yes. Ice Cream Fund has no servers of its own — your data stays on-device, and syncing happens entirely through your private iCloud account. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What happens to my funds if I sign out of iCloud or change Apple ID?
Funds that belong to the previous account — yours and ones shared with you — are removed from that device, and the app tells you. They stay in that account's iCloud and come back when that account is signed in again and iCloud Sync is on. Funds you keep only on this device stay as they are. When a different Apple ID signs in, the app asks "Use iCloud Sync?" — nothing is uploaded unless you say yes.
Why should I update all family devices?
Everyone who uses a shared fund should have version 2.0.0 or later, so allowances, notices and sharing behave the same on every device. If a device receives changes it cannot read yet, it shows a quiet hint to update Ice Cream Fund.
What do I need to run it?
iOS 18 or later.
I found a bug or have a feature request — who do I tell?
Email — real emails, read by the person who builds it.
